SILENT NIGHT
© 2003 by Carl Tronco

A message came one dark and stormy Christmas
It came in silence
It lay in the stillness between falling raindrops
In the starless sky framed by swirling clouds
In the bitter chill of that silent night
In the tortured solitude of a heart beating for another it cannot understand or control
The reflection of houselights on the rain-drenched street
An imaginary world bejeweled
Will soon disappear with the sunrise
Mocking my foolish dreams of love
